The Valian Regiments Empty The Valian Regiments

Post by Norabder Thu Mar 02, 2017 5:37 pm

This is the lore for my homebrew regiments, members of which feature regularly as part of RPs I take part in.

Vale Primus:
Vale Primus is the capitol planet of the Vale system and the main recruiting ground for the Valian regiments. It is of similar size to Terra and has a similar atmosphere although the oxygen levels are two per cent lower. Sixty per cent of the planets surface is water formed into three oceans; Val Ocea, Val Suda and Val Nord. Its two ice caps are smaller than those found on ancient Terra (modern day earth) as it inhabits an area of the so called 'habitable zone' (the area in which a planet can orbit relative to a star and maintain a temperature suitable for life) closer to its star, Vali 2358, than Terra is comparable to the sun.
The remainder of the planet is mixed grasslands and forest with a belt of rainforest around the equator. The planet has a population of ten billion living mostly in cities but small scale farming on the grasslands are common place.

Vale Secondus:
Vale Secondus is the second habitable planet in the Vale system and is twice the size of Vale Primus. Its orbit sits on the near edge of the habitable zone meaning its average temperature sits well above that of Terra and Vale Primus. The planets surface is a barren wasteland with no liquid water or indigenous life, all humans living in large city complexes half buried beneath the surface. Because of the hard living conditions and expensive equipment needed to sustain habitation under normal circumstances the Imperium wouldn't settle Vale Secondus, however the planets crust is rich in many valuable resources making it a considerable asset.

Progress in the regiments:
Without exception all recruits to the Valian regiments will undergo an extensive four month training program before being shipped to the 4th regiment which acts as the training regiment. Whilst there they will be assessed under battlefield conditions and selected for specialisation to one of the other regiments and/or officer training (a further year long training course).
Valian 1st:
The Valian 1st regiment is the scout and light infantry element of the Valian regiments. Under normal circumstances they will be kept away from large scale engagements and will be sent into squad or platoon level skirmishes and will be withdrawn as soon as possible when the action escalates. This does not mean to say they cannot cope with this sort of action, as like the men of the other Valian regiments they have all fought at least one campaign with the Valian 4th. The Valian 1st regiment specialise in scouting routes for advances, disrupting supply lines or cutting lines of communication.
Organisation:
The men of the Valian 1st are organised into eight man sections unlike the ten man line infantry squads used by most regiments. These eight man sections are made up of a scout, two light support weapons (the Valian 1st make extensive use of flamers however Sniper rifles and even plasma guns are used), a Vox operator, a medic, a corporal (in charge of the section), a Lance corporal (second in command) and one Rifleman.
Four sections are formed into a platoon led by either a luitenant or second luitenant. He will have with him his own command squad consisting of himself, the platoon NCO (usually a sergeant), a Vox operator, a medic and the standard bearer (due to the nature of the regiments role the standard bearer will often cary a light support weapon instead of the platoon standard.)
Four platoons form a company (normally led by a captain) the company commander will have his own command squad similar to the platoon commanders. Each company has a support platoon usually numbering four six man support weapon teams. Each team will have three support weapons (normally the team will all be equipped with the same weapons) each squad will usually be put under the command of other platoon commanders as the situation demands.
The regiment is made up of four companies commanded by a major (currently Major Richard Keen).
Valian 2nd:
heavy infantry
Valian 3rd:
mechanised infantry
Valian 4th:
training
Valian 5th:
light armoured
Valian 6th:
heavy armoured
Valian 7th:
artillery/support

I will be adding to this in the near future. (specifically details on the regiments)

Thx.
"Neatly fleshed out and we'll made"
*tries to pretend it wasn't just made up on the spot just before entering an RP*
*fails*
In truth the only reason it has any sort of coherence is because I have a good memory for random Shit.

All the info is good but I'd recommend using some structural options like underlining and bold, maybe even coloured text, just to make it a bit clearer to read.
