File XI-LA "Die Immortales"

Post by Lucan Tyrius on Tue Aug 22, 2017 3:33 pm

The Immortals
(Formerly The "Flame Lords")
11th Legion
Primarch: Uriel Invicta
Tactics: CQC, Flame Weapons, Jump Pack Warfare.
Gene flaw: "Reseratum" Syndrome (details listed elsewhere)
Homeworld: Magstroma
Non Standard Units: Lifeweavers

Post Reunification Legion Symbol

Notes: Most information on this Legion was purposefully destroyed, but we have managed to put what little remains together.

The XIth legion was originally dubbed the Flame Lords before being united with their progenitor. Even in these early days there were signs of the Reseratum, the Gene flaw of the XIth that caused accelerated healing, even beyond that of a normal Astartes, with wounds sealing completely in minutes, limbs regrowing in days, but also caused fatal cancerous growths and other physical mutations, such as extra fingers or toes. These issues were kept secret, and only effected approximately 8% of the Legion at the onset of the Crusade.

On Magstroma, a world of scorching deserts and superstitious locals, Uriel Invicta rose to power as a Warlord, quickly stamping out the religious cults that had long held sway over the people. Many of these cultists were in fact Psykers and sorcerers under the command of the Chaos Gods. This exposed the insidious nature of chaos to Uriel very early on.

Little is known of how he was found, but he took to the Crusade with zeal. On every world however, his Astartes would round up anyone deemed impure by Uriel's standard, and execute them, often burning them alive.

At some point shortly after Uriel took command the Librarian and Apothecary roles were merged, and the none psychic Apothecaries reassigned to normal combat roles. The new Psyker Apothecaries were dubbed Lifeweavers, and were forbidden to use or teach any recruit any discipline other than Biomancy. Many of the Terran born Librarians were outraged at this, but dared not speak out against their clearly ruthless leader.

As the Crusade wore on Uriel became increasingly unstable and paranoid. He came to believe Chaos had infiltratated the Legions, and demanded they be cleansed, but the Emperor forbade him even speaking of his worries.

He covertly began "cleansing" his own legion, with a particular focus on the Terran born Marines, which he had never fully trusted. However they discovered his plan and an internal civil war broke out, with the rebels led by former Chief Librarian Azariel Vatruvius, and former Apothecary Johnathan Lancer.

It is unknown what occurred exactly, but Azariel turned to summoning Daemons, and soon fell to chaos, with the corruption quickly spreading through his followers. Captain Lancer eventually turned on Azariel and killed him, causing the traitors to become easy prey for the loyalist forces. At the end of the conflict however, Uriel had completely lost his mind. He took his remaining forces and left for a meeting the Emperor had called for the Primarchs.

At the meeting he accused the Emperor of hiding the truth and being aligned with the ruinous powers, but was subdued after attempting to attack the Emperor, killing several custodian guards and wounding Leman Russ in the process.

The remaining Immortals attempted to board the Bucephalus, but we're repelled by the Custodian Guards.

In the end, no trace remained save Uriel himself.
