Standardising Relay Lore Empty Standardising Relay Lore

Post by Falco Sanders Sun Sep 03, 2017 12:01 pm

Due to... A general lack of an approved set of events, I propose we take some time to sit down and discuss what situation the Relay finds itself in.

These are my proposals:

1) I propose that the current year is still 999.M41, at least for the time being. Considering how the Lore is still being written and being changed... and lets be fair a large number of us haven't yet caught up with it yet, let's leave it at that for the time being, at least until GW cools down with the 8th edition expansions to the Lore, at which point we can move on and do stuff in M42, or remain perpetually in 999.M41, depending on the thoughts of Relay Members.

2) The Ordo Relayus (Previously an organisation designed to secure hard to get relics and deliver them back to terra for safe keeping), has now been declared excommunicate traitoris, and hence all members of the relay are, in the eyes of the imperium, Traitors. This does not mean you have to convert to chaos... it doesn't mean you have to fight against the imperium, heck, you can fight for it like the soul drinkers. It does mean, however, that most inquisitors will want to kill you, and most imperial authority will see you as traitors and heretics and want you dead, should they catch you, never mind who or what you really fight for.

Now, if your character is a devout loyalist... then you could certainly still be in the Relay, and it would provide some interesting story possibilities surrounding where your allegiances lie and your faith in the imperium being tested... Or if you're the sort who would kill us all because we're branded Heretics... I don't know how to resolve it story wise, but don't do that. You'll die, and maybe somebody else will die, and all that will happen is people will get pissed off and it won't be fun.

3) The Vox Relay, or Ordo Relayus... (name yet to be decided I suppose), and its members have fled to a hive world in the northernmost part of the Segmentum Obscurus, near the Halo Stars, and is currently sitting there, in a bar, doing bugger all. (This would be on the Baal side of the Galaxy in M42). The reason for this: Distance from Terra + Distance from the Tyranids in the eastern fringe, because nobody wants to be eaten there, lets be honest.

Now, this is up for debate, but the intent of this is to settle the lore out into something we can all agree on.
Do you have a problem with any of these points? Put your arguments as to why you do and your proposals to change it bellow and if people agree, this original post will be amended. If not... You're probably the minority. But we'll try and come to a more... middle ground for all points.

Do you have another proposal? Suggest bellow and if people agree, this original post will be amended.

I agree with all of these, really. I would say though, that I would be against staying in 999.M41 perpetually, even if the M42 lore isn't particularly nice. Canon is canon, and we can't argue against it (unless GW changes it for absolutely no reason like Ollanius Pius being exchanged for a Custodian).

I also think that the Relay chapter (which we ought to rebuild and make a bit of a background for) should be mostly destroyed by this point. I assume that being declared traitors resulted in some sort of major attack, which is what made our characters flee the Imperium in the first place. Our Astartes would have defended our escape, and mostly died doing so. This means that while there can be some Relay marines alive, who we can design and use as NPCs, we don't have to maintain a whole 1000 strong force of Astartes and figure out what they're all doing at any given time, because as well as our own character lore, it would be a bit too much to handle and would likely cause a lot of unnecessary debate.

I think that's reasonable.

The Lore sounds good.
Though I'm going to make Senera not a part of the Ordo Relayus.
Since he's a Black Templar and has no affiliation to this. Plus, he's more interested in purging the galaxy of the evil heretics and xenos to be running after relics.

Fair enough, though the Relay currently doesn't do that. It's more interested in survival etc.

Standardising Relay Lore Empty Re: Standardising Relay Lore

I'm limiting my active Relay members to Runa, who is now a Lord Inquisitor of Ordos Chronos in her time period (M42) who has traveled back in time to hang with her buds. Morgana, an Eldar Pathfinder who really doesn't give a shit about anything now that her self-imposed exile is over, and maybe Armin, who will still travel with Runa. I may bring others in for short periods, but those will be "non-canon" because those Characters are generally off doing other shit. I just like giving them a bit of face time.

Do remember that Xenos and Heretics are still permitted as members of the Ordo Relayus, so people like your Pathfinder could be considered proper members as opposed to just an outside ally.

Furthermore, can someone remind me what the name of our Chapter was?
